Angela Garcia....Laurens AFP was 47,000 at birth. Normal is under 10. We chose not to do chemo, we were given a 50% chance the cancer would return within the first 6 months. Her Afp is 84, but her ct scans continue to be clear. Good Luck. I will keep you in my prayers.

Our daughter sct was external and internal. It also contained a cancerous germ cell tumor. Today she is almost 7 months and developing normally!!! Pray the cancer stays away!

My daughter MiKayla had a SCT and it was found when I was only 5 months pregnant through an ultrasound. The tumor was only 2 cm. The doctor's gave us a choice to terminate the pregnancy because they were not very familiar with this type of teratoma. My husband and I decided right away that terminating the pregnancy was NOT an option... My daughter had surgery when she was 2 weeks old and the SCT was mostly internal about 4 inches in diameter and she is now 3 1/2 months old and a very healthy happy little girl. The SCT was benine (not cancerous) and they removed her entire tailbone to avoid a 35% chance of the SCT coming back. Through websites like this there was hope for us and GOD definitely heard our prayers. I hope that if there are any mothers out there that have gone through this please email me at koberhausen@sigecom.net I have lots of questions for other mothers that have had to deal with SCT diagnosis…

I just want to thank you for your website and for sharing your experience and offering other Parents hope. My daughter was born on 11.09.03 with a SCT and is now 20 months old and a happy healthy little girl. I just want to say be strong and have faith to any parents that may be going through an SCT diagnosis. There IS hope.

A little over a month ago, my sister gave birth to a son diagnosed with a teratoma in his neck and chest. Although he lived only 30 min. his short life and death had a profound affect on my family. Reading your story has made me realize that our family wasn't the only family affected by teratomas. I am glad your baby is healthy and i pray my sister finds the strength to try motherhood again.

very interesting site. I enjoyed it. My daughter has an SCT and we underwent Fetal surgury at 23wks gestation she is now 8 yrs old. It is assuring to see more on the web about SCT. I remember when we were going through this our resources were very limited. I hope more people find out about the other option other than terminating the pregnancy If it wasnt for the fetal surgury my daughter would not be here because she was becoming hydropic.
